I just went through and purged much of this site. It’s all now sitting in drafts in my WordPress back end, waiting for me to figure out whether to keep or trash several year’s worth of stop-start blogging about my non-existent fiction writing career.
See, here’s the thing: I started this website in 2011, convinced that it would help me give the fiction thing a red hot go.
It’s nine years later, and I’ve spent more time tinkering around the edges of this website, changing themes and deleting embarrassing blog posts, than I actually have writing fiction.
No more, I say. I’m 40 damn years old now; it’s time I take this seriously.
So this is just a short post to say I know the site looks like shit right now. I’m working on it. I’m also working on the next novel (the first one is in a drawer and needs a serious rethink, so I’m starting something new). Now is the time to take this here lil’ website and make it my worthy of my author brand. And so it shall be.
For now, you can always contact me on Twitter, or subscribe to get real-time updates as I make the changes. It’ll be getting done between the day job – and, yes, I’m updating that website too. I’m taking control of my online persona. I mean, I’ve got nothing else to do in lockdown, right?
